Join the Surfrider Foundation in welcoming the Association of Surfing Professionals World Championship Tour to San Francisco! On Tuesday, November 1st, Mezzanine plays host to the world’s top professionals surfers for the official Rip Curl Pro Search Kickoff Party. Hang with two-time ASP World Champion Mick Fanning, 2010 ASP Rookie-of-the-Year Owen Wright, and Rip Curl pros Taylor Knox, Matt Wilkinson. Proceeds from the evening will go to help the Surfrider Foundation San Francisco Chapter and their campaign to Save Sloat.
Performing will be indie phenom Ty Segall and Kut U Up.
Ty Segall began his recording career as a part-time musician in various underground bands in Orange County and the San Francisco Bay Area, before beginning a solo career in 2008. He sings and plays guitar and drums. He has released four solo albums and is a member of the bands The Traditional Fools, Epsilons, Party Fowl, Sic Alps, and The Perverts. His 2011 album, Goodbye Bread, has been called “unadulterated joy.”
Kut U Up hail from San Diego, California. The band starred in the 2003 documentary “Riding in Vans with Boys” which chronicled their 2002 tour with Blink-182, Green Day, and Jimmy Eat World. After a seven year hiatus, the band reformed earlier this year and are starting to record a follow up to their 2003 release “Pulled Over.”
